IT & ITeS
The largest trade in the programme — digital skills for every district. Students learn computer fundamentals, data entry and management, spreadsheets and documentation, basic web concepts and digital workplace skills. Teaching is practical and lab-based, aimed at office, data and IT support roles.
Why IT & ITeS matters in Uttarakhand's schools
Information Technology and IT-enabled Services is the backbone trade of school vocational education in Uttarakhand, with 247 of the 552 vacancies. Almost every district has an IT lab in at least a handful of government secondary schools, and the demand for teachers who can run those labs confidently is the largest in the programme.
The subject is deliberately practical. Students do not sit through abstract theory — they type, format, calculate, search, build simple web pages and learn how a digital workplace actually runs. A good IT teacher turns a room of nervous first-time computer users into students who can produce a formatted document, a working spreadsheet and a basic web page by the end of Class 12.

What the job involves
- Teach the IT & ITeS job-role curriculum, theory and practical, from PSSCIVE textbooks and e-content.
- Teach the Employability Skills curriculum, which is common across Classes 9 to 12.
- Run and look after the school's IT & ITeS lab and its equipment.
- Keep attendance, a lesson-plan diary counter-signed by the Head of School, and the programme's MIS data up to date.
- Arrange guest lectures, industry visits and skill competitions, and help Class 12 students with internships and placements.

Data entry operator, office assistant, MIS executive, CRM associate.
BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT), B.Voc, or a polytechnic diploma with credit for skill subjects.
CSC / e-Seva centre operator, freelance web and data work.
These are contractual positions in government schools under a vocational education programme. This is not a government appointment.
